Privacy

Short version: TalkTiles collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no ads or trackers. Everything you do stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, and no analytics. We do not collect names, emails, locations, usage data, or any personal information.

Where your data lives

All of your content (the words and categories, any photos you add, and your settings) is stored only on the device you're using, in the browser's local storage (IndexedDB). It never leaves the device and we never see it.

Network use

The app downloads its files (and the picture symbols) the first time you open it, then runs entirely offline. After that first load it makes no network requests. There are no third-party servers, fonts, ad networks, or trackers involved.

Photos and camera

If you add your own photo to a tile, it is processed and stored on your device only. It is not uploaded anywhere.

Speech

Spoken output uses the voices built into your device's operating system. No audio is recorded, and nothing you tap is transmitted.

Children's privacy

TalkTiles is designed for use by and with children. Because it collects and transmits no personal information, it does not gather data from children under 13 (consistent with the spirit of COPPA and GDPR-K).

Backups & loss

Because your data lives only on the device, it is private, but it is also not backed up to the cloud. Deleting the app, clearing the browser's storage, or losing the device will remove your custom words. Keep a note of anything important you can't easily recreate.
